Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) has been formulated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (MoHUPA) in pursuance of the Government's vision of a "Slum-free-India". This scheme aims at providing support to States that are willing to provide property rights to slum dwellers. The scheme follows the strategy of a 'whole city, 'whole slum' approach. In each slum, an integrated approach would be taken, with provision of infrastructure, basic civic and social amenities and decent housing.

ചേരിരഹിത ഭാരതം എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യം മുന്‍ നിര്‍ത്തി കേന്ദ്ര-സംസ്ഥാന സര്‍ക്കാരുകളുടേയും തദ്ദെശ സ്വയം ഭരണ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളുടേയും സംയുക്താഭിമുഖ്യത്തില്‍ ജനകിയ പങ്കാളിത്തത്തോടെ നടപ്പിലാക്കി വരുന്ന പദ്ധതിയാണ് രാജിവ് ആവാസ് യോജന. നഗര പ്രദേശത്ത് നിലവിലുള്ള എല്ലാ ചേരിനസമാന പ്രദേശങ്ങളെയും വികസനത്തി‌ന്റെ മുഖ്യധാരയിലേക്ക് ഉയര്‍ത്തുന്ന തരത്തില്‍ ആസൂത്രണം ചെയ്യുന്ന സമയബന്ധിത കര്‍മ്മപരിപാടിയാണിത് .

In order to achieve this objective, Central Government has launched a comprehensive mission "Housing for All by 2022" Housing for All (HFA) mission is since launched in compliance with the above objective of the Government and with the approval of competent authority. The mission seeks to address the housing requirement of urban poor including slum dwellers through following four programme verticals:
