Hon'ble Prime Minister envisioned Housing for All by 2022 when the Nation completes 75 years of its Independence. In order to achieve this objective, Central Government has launched a comprehensive mission "Housing for All by 2022" Housing for All (HFA) mission is since launched in compliance with the above objective of the Government and with the approval of competent authority. The mission seeks to address the housing requirement of urban poor including slum dwellers through following four programme verticals:
In-situ Development:
In-situ Rehabilitation of existing slum dwellers using land as a resource through private participation
Credit Linked Subsidy:
The Mission, in order to expand institutional credit flow to the housing needs of urban poor will implement credit linked subsidy component as a demand side intervention. Credit linked subsidy will be provided on home loans taken by eligible urban poor (EWS/LIG) for acquisition, construction of house.
Beneficiaries of Economically Weaker section (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG) seeking housing loans from Banks, Housing Finance Companies and other such institutions would be eligible for an interest subsidy at the rate of 6.5 % for a tenure of 15 years or during tenure of loan whichever is lower.
Affordable Housing in Partnership:
To provide low cost housing to landless/ houseless EWS with help of private sector or public sector partnership
Beneficiary Led individual house Construction/Enhancement:
BLC (New Construction) : The component extends its benefit for individuals of EWS category for construction of new house in their own land/ land with possession / in place of existing diapilated houses.
BLC (Enhancement): The component extends its benefit for individuals of EWS category for the enhancement of existing house having carpet area less than 21m2.
A total of Rs. 3 Lakhs (including Central, state, ULB & beneficiary share) will be given as grant for construction of new house and Rs.1.5 lakh will be given as grant for the enhancement of houses per beneficiary.
